possum town yard sale

Columbus was called Possum Town for a while in the early 1800s, and the name has stuck. Yesterday a friend and I went to the annual Possum Town Yard Sale, whose proceeds go to support the Hitching Lot Farmers' Market. The weather was gorgeous (somewhere in the 60s), and there was a great turn-out.

There were some real gems for sale.

And some of my favorite farmers showed up as well. Aren't those persimmons beautiful?

  1. If you didn't know about the Horsman dolls, would you think Talk is a verb or noun here? As in, "Willie Talk if Mama Listen"; or "Don't give me none of that sassy Willie Talk"?

p.s. was the mouth in working condition?

  2. I'm not sure that Willie's mouth was capable of doing any talking. I didn't really want to pick him up to see. I vote for Talk as noun in this case. As in, Willie Talk is a linguistic variation of Talking Doll English.
